People say this is the worst Dune book. I think they're wrong. It's the most uncomfortable Dune book, which is different. Dune was about a hero. Messiah is about what heroism costs everyone around the hero — and what it costs the hero to remain one.

Read this one slowly. Herbert doesn't explain what he's doing.
